First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking aQuality Control Coordinator to join our Residential Real Estate Division Compliance team. This position is responsible to ensure the timely performance of quality control and correspondent lender reviews, review of findings drafted by staff, and drafting quality control reports for dissemination to management. Also directly responsible to perform quality assurance reviews on vendor reviewed loans and quality control reviews on all aspects of the residential mortgage servicing operations and measuring performance against legal, regulatory, investor and internal bank policies. Acts as liaison between QC and Correspondent Lending Account Executive/Correspondent Lenders; and vendors in coordinating mortgage servicing and HMDA quality control reviews. Serves as back up support to QC Manager.

The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.

Work Schedule

 Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM (Work hours may vary) 

 Compensation

The annual salary range for this role is $57k - $70k/year; commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, related field, or equivalent experience such as four (4) years in mortgage banking with a background in residential quality control or underwriting required
• Two (2) years of experience in residential quality control or underwriting required
• Three (3) years of experience in real estate lending, mortgage compliance, or mortgage banking preferred
• Strong writing skills to aid in composition of audit findings
• Must be organized, detail oriented and able to work under pressure
• Must be a self-starter, able to function with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
• Must have effective written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing applications (MS Office Word and Excel). Knowledge of database (MS Access) is helpful
• Detailed self-employed analysis experience
• Experience with internet searches, etc. to research items such as employment and other loan file details
• Familiar with online databases, industry vendors, banking software
• Comprehensive knowledge of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac guidelines and Regulatory Compliance
• Analytical thinking ability, diplomacy, and professional
• Proven record of industry-based underwriting or quality control experience and strong understanding of industry issues, such as mortgage fraud
