Position Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing new business through the sale of Treasury Management services offered by First Guaranty Bank. This position will also function as a consultant and business partner to Retail Branch and Business Lending teams to ensure all Bank clients are offered products to fit their individual needs and to further develop client relationships. The Business Development Manager will create customized sales proposals, conduct cost/benefit analyses, and identify pricing improvements.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct client meetings to discuss potential banking needs for:
    • Accelerating Deposits
    • Streamlining Payables
    • Liquidity Management
    • Information Management and Fraud Prevention
    • Employee Banking Needs
  • Based on these meetings, generate sales of Treasury Management products and services including:
    • Remote Deposit Capture
    • Merchant Services
    • ACH Origination
    • On-Line Wire Transfers
    • Positive Pay/ ACH Block and Filter
    • Lockbox
    • Commercial On-line Banking and Mobile Banking
    • Business Credit Cards
    • Analysis / Zero Balance Accounts
    • FGB At Work Opportunities
    • Any additional new products or services as developed.
  • Originate small business/commercial loans including C&I, CRE, and CRA credit eligible.
  • Negotiate loan terms, pricing, collateral structures, and covenants.
  • Manage individual portfolio’s loan renewals, modifications, and problem credits when necessary.
  • Generate new business through client cold calls, warm leads, and referrals from employees or existing clients.
  • Visit on-site with customers to help set up new Treasury Management Services or provide customer training / support for existing Services. Examples are setting up new merchant terminals for credit card acceptance or remote deposit capture scanners to accept deposits.
  • Responsible for partnering with the Regional Consumer Managers and Area Managers to provide training for all front-line staff on Treasury Management products.
  • Ensure that all necessary Treasury Management agreements and implementation documents and procedures are fully completed and submitted to the On-Line Banking Support Team for processing.
  • Conduct timely follow-up on newly implemented services to ensure customer is satisfied and trained on the mechanics of the service.
  • Adhere to the BSA Policy and all other Bank Policies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • Previous banking experience preferred in Business Development/Treasury Management or outside sales.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting/Finance, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent general knowledge of banking and business preferred.
  • Demonstrates high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, peers, and management.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly.
  • Proven ability to solve problems and conduct analysis.
  • Possesses a neat, punctual, positive, proactive, and professional work ethic.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Proficient in the use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Candidate must have reliable transportation. In-market travel for client visits is required.
  • Self-starter, motivated, and persistent personality.
