Youth Minister
First Congregational Church of Madison | $25/hour | Part-time
First Congregational Church of Madison is a vibrant and growing congregation known for its welcoming and supportive environment. We are seeking an energetic and engaged individual to support our youth ministry, starting with our 2026-2027 program year. The Youth Minister will collaborate with the Senior Ministers and Director of Children and Family Ministries in sustaining and growing our youth program, which includes a teen Sunday School and Youth Group. We welcome applicants from faith backgrounds not limited to the United Church of Christ, and would offer preaching and other ministry opportunities to an interested candidate.
Responsibilities include:
· Leading a weekly Sunday School class for grades 6-12. With Senior Ministers, designing or selecting curriculum. Building relationships with youth and engaging them in thoughtful and relevant discussions, exploring their faith.
· Planning and leading Youth Group gatherings that include faith formation, fun activities, and meaningful outreach opportunities.
· Communicating the Youth Group schedule and events with families and youth.
· Participating in the planning and fund-raising activities for the annual week-long Youth Service Trip with Appalachia Service Project (typically the 3rd week of June). Attending the trip, if able.
Qualifications:
· Energy, passion and enthusiasm, backed by a strong faith.
· Exceptional interpersonal and relationship skills.
· Ability to organize and plan group events; and communicate effectively with the church, youth and their families.
· Must be able to work effectively and positively with diversity.
· Must be a team player with flexibility.
Compensation and Commitment : $25/hour. Average of 10 hours/week.
