First Call Direct Hire is recruiting a Quality Engineer Specialist for a manufacturing company located in Greenfield, Indiana.
This position is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with experience in PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, capability analysis, and new model/product launch activities. The Quality Engineer Specialist will work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to support new projects, maintain quality documentation, manage gauges, and ensure products meet customer and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain PPAP submissions, Control Plans/PQCT, PFMEAs, and process flow documentation.
- Support the development and planning of new projects through the APQP process.
- Monitor new projects and provide regular updates through completion.
- Prepare and maintain customer new-model schedules and required quality documentation.
- Review and approve new-model packaging from a quality perspective prior to shipment.
- Develop and implement inspection standards and quality requirements.
- Perform capability analysis for mass-production processes.
- Identify opportunities for inspection reductions, specification improvements, target adjustments, and other process improvements.
- Work with the Quality Control Lab to verify the quality of prototype parts before shipment.
- Manage new gauges, including procurement, Gauge R&R, calibration, and implementation.
- Maintain engineering drawings and associated quality documentation.
- Work with production teams to identify damaged or malfunctioning gauges, determine repair requirements, coordinate repairs, and return repaired gauges to production.
- Support new-model readiness meetings and project-launch activities.
- Assist with management presentations and quality-related reporting.
- Support budget preparation and QC Lab activities as needed.
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable government, customer, and industry quality standards.
- Assist with problem-solving, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quality, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, OR
- 3–5 years of related quality/manufacturing experience and/or training, OR
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience with PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, corrective actions, and process flow documentation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and processes.
- Experience with statistical analysis and manufacturing capability studies.
- Gauge management and Gauge R&R experience preferred.
