Bringing together our critical environments companies Quality Air Service (QAS), Envelop Critical Environments (ECE), and Controlled Environmental Systems (CES) to better serve customers across healthcare, research, laboratory, life sciences, manufacturing, and other mission-critical environments. Through a collaborative approach, our teams support the testing, certification, commissioning, servicing, and optimization of critical airflow, HVAC, filtration, and contamination control systems while delivering a consistent, high-quality customer experience.
The Associate Application Engineer will support the sales team by assisting with pre and post sales activities related to critical environment systems and equipment project opportunities. This role supports the design, application, equipment selection, estimating, and technical coordination of airflow systems used in healthcare, laboratory, cleanroom, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and other controlled environments.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with sales engineers to understand project requirements, assess critical environment system needs, and support the development of technical solutions.
- Assist with the design and application of HVAC, airflow, pressurization, and critical environment systems used in cleanrooms, healthcare facilities, laboratories, and other controlled environments.
- Support equipment selection, estimating, system layouts, and preparation of project documentation.
- Prepare, finalize, and review preliminary and final proposals, submittals, equipment selections, drawings, and project documentation.
- Review manufacturer acknowledgements for accuracy and correct orders as necessary.
- Complete orders and track progress while continually updating status to customers and sales engineers.
- Maintain accurate records including contract closeout, warranty execution, and manufacturer product updates and improvements.
- Provide technical support and product training to customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other related engineering discipline.
- Previous engineering experience through co-ops or internships strongly preferred.
- Interest in or knowledge of HVAC systems, critical environments, cleanroom technologies, commissioning, and technical troubleshooting.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly in a technical environment.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams, along with strong computer application and document management skills.
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment including but not limited to laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
- Travel to customer job sites which requires the ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
- Must be able to maintain a professional appearance.
- May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company.
- Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted.
