About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Litigation Attorney with 1–3 years of experience in personal injury and/or civil litigation to join our growing practice. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of cases while continuing to develop litigation and courtroom skills through mentorship and hands-on experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience handling personal injury matters and be comfortable managing cases through various stages of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, negotiations, and court appearances.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle civil litigation matters, with a focus on personal injury cases (auto accidents, premises liability, wrongful death, etc.)
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, demand packages, and legal correspondence
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategies
- Manage written discovery, document review, and case file development
- Take and defend depositions, including parties, witnesses, and experts
- Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and case evaluations
- Attend court hearings, status conferences, and motion hearings
- Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation and exhibit management
- Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient case progression and client service
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Admission to the State Bar of Michigan and in good standing
- 1–3 years of experience in personal injury litigation and/or civil litigation
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Experience drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery-related documents
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling plaintiff-side personal injury matters
- Exposure to insurance defense or bodily injury claims litigation
- Experience conducting or defending depositions
- Familiarity with medical records review, damages analysis, and case valuation
- Experience participating in mediations, settlement negotiations, or trial preparation
- Courtroom experience, including hearings and motion practice
