Job Title: Senior IT Business Analyst
Location: Oakland, California (Hybrid – onsite 1–2 times/month)
Duration: 6 Months Contract
Pay Rate: $60–$75/hr (W2)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Business Analyst to support a critical Electric Generation Interconnection (EGI) program. This role will act as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams, driving requirements, system enhancements, and project delivery within a utility-focused environment.
Candidates with strong experience in asset work management, SAP, and electric utilities (distribution, transmission, substation) are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements
- Conduct workshops, interviews, and process analysis to define system needs
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications
- Create process models, workflows, use cases, and diagrams (Visio preferred)
- Validate requirements for accuracy, completeness, and feasibility
- Support system implementation, enhancements, and testing (UAT/test scripts)
- Collaborate with IT teams on solution design and delivery
- Manage requirements throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide reporting and data solutions to support business performance metrics
- Assist in software selection and evaluation
- Communicate project updates, risks, and changes to stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or related field
- 7–10 years of Business Analyst experience
- Strong experience with:
- Asset Work Management systems
- SAP Work & Asset Management
- Utility environments (Electric Distribution, Transmission, Substation)
- Hands-on experience in:
- Requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation
- Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies
- Proficiency with:
- MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
- SQL (working knowledge)
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Electric Generation Interconnection (EGI) programs
- Exposure to Joint Pole (JUMP) systems or asset portals
- Prior experience with utilities similar to Pacific Gas and Electric Company
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Proven track record of delivering end-to-end technology implementations
Work Setup
- Hybrid role (1–2 onsite visits per month in Oakland, California)
- Open to non-local candidates willing to work PST hours
