Production Manager – Consumer Products Manufacturing
We are seeking a hands-on Production Manager to lead our client's primary product line within a growing, 200-person manufacturing facility. This role will oversee approximately 70 hourly associates and front-line leads, driving day-to-day operations while building a strong, accountable team culture. The ideal candidate brings a balance of leadership, operational discipline, and continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to develop people, optimize processes, and deliver consistent results in a fast-paced consumer products and packaging environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 70 hourly associates and supervisors across the main production line
- Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and engagement on the production floor
- Ensure daily production targets are met across safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
- Monitor KPIs and production data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Partner with cross-functional teams (maintenance, quality, engineering, supply chain) to resolve issues and improve performance
- Optimize labor utilization, workflow, and line efficiency to maximize throughput
- Support and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for production or quality issues
- Assist with training, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to lead and develop large teams in a production setting
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles
- Continuous improvement mindset with a track record of driving operational enhancements
- Solid problem-solving skills with an analytical, “engineering-minded” approach
- Experience working in consumer products, packaging, or high-volume manufacturing environments preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build trust across all levels of the organization
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
