SPECIAL SERVICES TEACHER

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Services Teacher to join our team at Filer High School. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring that each student has access to a quality education tailored to their unique learning requirements. This role requires collaboration with educators, parents, and support staff to develop and implement effective educational strategies that promote academic and social growth.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Provide direct instruction and support to students in both inclusive and specialized settings.
• Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to meet individual learning goals.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to create an inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, IEP goals, and strategies for support at home.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and progress.
• Provide training and support to staff on best practices for working with students with disabilities.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress.
• Stay informed about current trends and best practices in special education through professional development opportunities.
• Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and independence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, preferably in an intermediate school setting.
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the needs of individual students.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
• Knowledge of assistive technology and resources for students with disabilities is a plus.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
