Purpose: Laminate composite components on molds to form specific custom products.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Handle composite materials and follow established safety procedures.
- Hand laminate composite components using carbon fiber pre-preg. and other similar materials, to specifications set by blueprints, layup manuals, and other technical documentation.
- Prepare components for autoclave cure utilizing vacuum bagging techniques (manufacturer breather, bag material kit).
- Prepare tooling patterns and molds using chemical sealers and release systems.
- Fabricate molds from supplied patterns.
- Follow build manuals and quality control processes.
- Consult and resolve quality issues as they arise, in consultation with project engineers.
- Ability to work with Supervisor’s established priorities to assure laminating and assembly workflow is sustained and attending to other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements:
- Ability to interpret basic instructions via detailed drawings/instructions.
- An eye for detail and pride in making things by hand.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate shift work if required.
Desirables:
- An understanding of engineering drawings.
- Comfortable using common hand and power tools.
- Previous composite laminating experience is an asset, but specific training will be provided as required.
- A basic understanding of composite component construction is an asset.
Education & Experience Required:
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent.
- Must be willing to work well under pressure as part of a strong team.
- Have a can-do, positive attitude.
- Exemplary attendance.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback.

- The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stairs), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery surfaces), bending, reaching, handling (seizing, holding, grasping, turning to pick, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
- Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jacket, etc.) in a safe manner.
- While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, etc.), gloves, and hearing protection.
- Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto.
- This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure the successful operation of activities in the organization.
- Some positions entail working with small parts/components.
- Employees must have excellent hand-eye coordination and good manual dexterity in both hands. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Job Type: Non-Exempt
1st Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Mon-Fri. Overtime and Weekends as scheduled by Management
2nd Shift Hours: 4:00 PM - 1:00 AM, Mon-Fri. Overtime and Weekends as scheduled by Management
