About The Role

The position of Scientist, Integration and Test Engineering (CITE) at L3Harris offers an exciting opportunity to lead and influence the verification and testing processes of complex space systems. The successful candidate will oversee system verification and test planning for spacecraft bus integration, mission payload, and communication payload, culminating in comprehensive end-to-end testing. This role requires leading a team of experienced I&T engineers through various phases of the product lifecycle, from initial requirement analysis to final validation. The CITE will be responsible for defining and executing strategies for testing, verification, validation, qualification, and acceptance, ensuring all system requirements are met with precision and adherence to industry standards. The role involves close collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams, representing the space integration and test engineering function during key design reviews, and troubleshooting technical issues that arise during testing activities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience. Candidates holding a Graduate Degree should have at least 10 years of experience, while those without a degree must bring a minimum of 16 years of engineering experience. Extensive experience with system-level space requirements verification, including allocation, testability analysis, flow down, testing, and demonstration, is essential. Proven expertise in executing all phases of space vehicle programs such as SRR, PDR, CDR, IRR, TRR, and PSR is required. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in space hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, and working with Flat Sats and simulators. A Secret Security Clearance is mandatory for this role, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work involved.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level system integration and test engineering leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Lead the integration and verification testing of space hardware and software at acceptance, proto-flight, and qualification levels across various environmental conditions such as vibration, thermal, and vacuum.
  • Develop comprehensive verification plans, detailed test procedures, and test flows, and oversee their execution during testing phases.
  • Document and analyze test results, preparing detailed reports to verify compliance with system requirements and specifications.
  • Manage requirements verification for components, subsystems, and entire systems, ensuring traceability and completeness.
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of test beds and simulators used during integration and testing activities.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues and anomalies encountered during testing, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
  • Coordinate with systems, mechanical, structural, thermal, power, optical, RF, and electrical teams throughout the development, integration, and testing processes.
  • Represent the space integration and test engineering discipline during major system reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PSR, and other critical milestones, ensuring technical rigor and readiness.
