About The Role
Raytheon is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Mechanical Engineering group within the Shipboard Effectors Department. This onsite position located in Tucson, AZ, offers an exciting opportunity to work on the design and upgrade of sophisticated shipboard effectors and subsystems for military applications. The role involves collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to develop innovative mechanical hardware solutions, supporting all phases of program lifecycle from concept development to production. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in designing ruggedized structures, interconnects, cooling systems, and electronics integration, ensuring the products meet stringent military standards and performance requirements. This position requires a proactive individual capable of working independently, leading small teams, and interacting with senior personnel and external customers on significant technical matters. The engineer will also contribute to proposal development, cost and schedule management, and transition-to-production activities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable products that enhance national security.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of experience. Extensive experience in designing electronics packaging for military, aerospace, or commercial applications is required. Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances (GD&T) and a solid understanding of military standards and design for manufacturability are essential. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, including an interim clearance prior to start, are mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and experience with 3D modeling software such as CREO (Pro/E) or similar. Experience with structural analysis techniques and familiarity with ANSI drawing standards are preferred. Additionally, candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes related to CCAs, mechanical/RF components, and electronics assemblies.
