About The Role
Raytheon is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its dynamic team at the Tucson, Arizona facility. This onsite role offers an exciting opportunity for a professional with a background in manufacturing processes, engineering, or related fields to contribute directly to the development and enhancement of manufacturing operations for defense systems. The Manufacturing Engineer will be instrumental in designing, testing, and refining manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including design, quality assurance, and production, to develop manufacturing data packages, troubleshoot process issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a strong understanding of engineering principles, and the ability to support manufacturing operations in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Candidates must hold an active U.S. security clearance, as this role involves access to sensitive information and government-furnished equipment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, along with a minimum of two years of relevant manufacturing experience. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance, specifically a Secret DoD clearance, with the ability to secure an interim clearance prior to employment. Experience working in manufacturing environments, especially within defense or aerospace sectors, is highly preferred. Strong technical skills, including the ability to interpret technical drawings, apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and utilize CAD tools such as CREO or ProE, are essential. Additionally, familiarity with automated tooling, machinery, programming, and repair processes enhances a candidate’s suitability. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously are critical attributes. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing comprehensive Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs), which include assembly instructions, workflow and routing documentation, labor standards, and tooling and fixture designs. They will support daily manufacturing operations by troubleshooting process issues, implementing engineering changes into existing processes, and ensuring the smooth flow of production activities. Dispositioning non-conforming materials, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions are key components of the role to maintain quality standards. The engineer will lead initiatives to drive continuous improvement by applying Six Sigma principles to optimize cycle times, reduce ergonomic risks for assembly personnel, and automate processes to lower costs. Providing real-time technical support to manufacturing teams both in-house and within the supply chain is essential to resolve issues swiftly and maintain production schedules. The role also involves developing specialized tools and fixtures aimed at improving ergonomics and efficiency, leading corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence, and supporting refurbishment and repair operations involving government-furnished equipment or material.
Benefits
Raytheon offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, well-being, and professional development of its employees. Hired applicants are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage. The company provides a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions, flexible spending accounts, and various wellness programs. Employees can benefit from flexible work schedules, parental leave policies, paid time off, and holiday pay. Raytheon also supports ongoing education through its Employee Scholar Program, enabling employees to pursue further training and certifications.
