About The Role

The HR Business Partner at RWJBarnabas Health Corporate Services plays a pivotal role in supporting our human resources functions within the healthcare setting. This position involves providing operational and strategic HR services to staff and management across designated departments. The HR Business Partner acts as a trusted advisor, facilitating recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and compensation management. Building strong, effective partnerships with departmental leaders is essential to align HR initiatives with organizational goals. The role requires a proactive approach to employee engagement, conflict resolution, and compliance with employment laws and regulations. The HR Business Partner also oversees onsite programs, manages reporting requirements, and contributes to special projects that enhance our HR operations. This is a temporary position lasting approximately 16 to 20 weeks, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic healthcare environment while gaining valuable experience in strategic HR functions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
  • Prior experience as an HR Business Partner or in a similar HR generalist role.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and effective time management.
  • Interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the capacity to make independent judgments when necessary.

Preferred

  • Three to five years of experience at a generalist level within healthcare or a related industry.

Responsibilities

The HR Business Partner will be responsible for a broad range of duties, including:

  • Counseling employees regarding interdepartmental transfers, promotions, and continuing education opportunities to foster career development.
  • Conducting follow-ups with employees to improve retention and job satisfaction.
  • Performing exit interviews to identify trends and areas for improvement within the organization.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with department leadership and staff, serving as the primary HR liaison.
  • Managing active employee relations issues, providing guidance and resolution strategies.
  • Acting as the liaison between assigned departments and Employee Health Services to promote employee well-being.
  • Staying current with employment laws and regulatory requirements, advising managers to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Preparing reports for corporate and facility needs, including responses to peer reviews, grievances, legal claims, and unemployment proceedings.
  • Serving as a mediator and consultant for management and staff on policy and union contract interpretation, helping resolve employee relations concerns.
  • Handling general office duties, including greeting visitors, managing inquiries, maintaining a tidy workspace, and overseeing office supplies.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the HR team and organization.
