About The Role

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Payroll Director to join our team. This leadership role is pivotal in overseeing all payroll functions across our organization, ensuring that payroll operations are accurate, timely, and compliant with all relevant laws and regulations. The Payroll Director will collaborate closely with the Finance department to maintain seamless integration between payroll and financial systems, uphold internal controls, and safeguard sensitive employee information. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in payroll management, demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, and have a deep understanding of payroll systems and regulatory requirements. This role offers an excellent opportunity to influence organizational efficiency, drive process improvements, and contribute to the overall success of Erickson Senior Living.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates should have a minimum of five years of payroll management experience within medium to large organizations. Demonstrated expertise in leading payroll and tax-related projects is essential. Advanced proficiency in payroll software such as Workday Payroll, MasterTax, and ADP is required, along with strong technical skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and reporting tools. A comprehensive understanding of U.S. federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including garnishments and payroll tax compliance, is critical. Candidates should possess excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and work independently. A proven track record of maintaining confidentiality and fostering a high-performance team environment is also necessary. Relevant certifications and ongoing professional development in payroll or related fields will be viewed favorably.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll for all employees.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise payroll staff and leadership, fostering a culture of high performance, professionalism, and excellent customer service.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure accurate maintenance of personnel data, pay rates, benefits, and employee information.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain payroll policies, procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal controls to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements; stay informed about legislative changes and advise leadership accordingly.
  • Prepare and present payroll reports to senior leadership, finance teams, auditors, and regulatory agencies, maintaining transparency and accuracy.
  • Manage relationships with third-party payroll providers, including vendor selection, evaluation, and ongoing management; identify opportunities for automation and system enhancements in collaboration with HR and IT teams.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently while maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding employee trust.
