The Advancement Student Assistant will assist the Advancement Communications Specialist and Managers of Annual Giving and Alumni/Annual Giving Operations with executing social media activities for the Ferris State Alumni Association and The Ferris Foundation.

Skills and qualifications include excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Social media experience preferred, including Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and the Hootsuite platform. Detail-oriented and organized. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively. Reliability and punctuality.

Additional skills to be considered include photography and videography experience, knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. Requirements also include making progress toward an Associate's or Bachelor's degree from Ferris State University. Some evening and weekend work availability preferred, always with advanced notice. Discretion when working with confidential university information and the ability to meet deadlines are a must.

Duties include drafting and scheduling compelling social media posts on all platforms compliant with brand standards, assisting with promotional and PR initiatives, and providing light photo and video support as needed. Collaborating with the Advancement Team to help identify giving trends and goals, assist with fundraising planning for the upcoming fiscal year, assist with social media tracking and analytics, including the design and creation of reports to present information for review. Other miscellaneous administrative duties as assigned.
