Protein Buyer

Ferraro Foods is seeking an experienced Protein Buyer to lead sourcing and category management for fresh and frozen meat products including beef, pork, poultry, veal, and specialty proteins.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role responsible for margin performance, supplier negotiation, and inventory control within a fast-paced foodservice distribution environment.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Purchasing and managing fresh and frozen protein categories
• Negotiating pricing, quality, and supply agreements with vendors
• Monitoring meat commodity markets and adjusting buying strategy accordingly
• Managing inventory levels, spoilage control, and product turns
• Achieving and exceeding category margin targets
• Developing and supporting private label protein programs
• Evaluating new suppliers and securing alternate sources of supply
• Partnering with Sales leadership to align purchasing strategy with category growth
• Coordinating with Receiving on quality control, returns, credits, and recalls
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• 3 years of experience purchasing fresh and frozen meat within a foodservice distribution or broadline environment
• Strong understanding of meat commodity pricing and market volatility
• Experience managing margin performance and inventory turns
• Proven negotiation and vendor management skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution setting
• Strong analytical and communication skills
