Role Summary
As a Grounds Maintenance Team Member, you are responsible for the total upkeep and aesthetic health of the district’s exterior environments. Working under the direction of the Director of Facilities, you will operate a wide range of heavy and light machinery to maintain turf, trees, and athletic facilities. From the precision of laying out a football field to the critical safety of plowing snow and repairing playground equipment, you ensure our outdoor spaces reflect the excellence of our district.
Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)
- Equipment Knowledge: You have the skill to operate power-driven equipment, including tractors, commercial mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and auxiliary mechanical attachments.
- The "Multi-Talented" Team Member: You are comfortable with semi-skilled labor ranging from horticultural care (pruning and fertilizing) to hardscape repairs like patching concrete and asphalt.
- Educational Foundation: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Reliable Professionalism: You have a solid attendance record and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, capable of operating medium and large trucks to transport equipment across the district.
- Physical Strength & Resilience: You thrive in an outdoor, physically demanding environment. You must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. and perform frequent stretching, twisting, and bending in all weather conditions.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
- Landscape Artistry: Cultivate, prune, and irrigate trees, shrubs, and flowers, ensuring our campuses remain vibrant and well-manicured.
- Athletic Excellence: Act as a key partner for our sports programs by laying out and marking athletic fields, baseball diamonds, and tracks with precision.
- Infrastructure & Safety: Repair fences, build tie walls for playgrounds, and patch asphalt to keep our campuses safe and accessible.
- Equipment Stewardship: Perform preventative maintenance on grounds equipment to ensure our fleet is always ready for the next task.
- All-Season Reliability: Serve as a frontline responder during winter months, plowing and salting parking lots to ensure our schools remain open and safe for staff and families.
