Role Summary
The Custodian performs essential manual work required for the routine cleaning, maintenance, and operation of our school buildings. Reporting to the Building Administrator and Custodial Leadership, you ensure that classrooms, restrooms, corridors, and exterior grounds are maintained to the highest standards of sanitation and safety. You are a versatile team player who can handle everything from chemical mixing to snow removal and minor equipment repairs.

- Educationally Prepared: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical Skilled: Demonstrated ability to operate custodial equipment (buffers, scrubbers, carpet extractors) and motorized grounds equipment (mowers, snow blowers).
- Safety Mindset: Knowledge of proper chemical mixing techniques and the ability to interpret safety instructions for solvents and cleaning agents.
- Physically Capable: This is a strenuous role requiring the ability to lift up to 100 lbs, work from ladders up to 12 feet, and perform repetitive motions over long periods.
- Reliable Professional: Honest, dependable, and motivated with a strong work record and the ability to work well with students, staff, and the public.
- All-Weather Ready: Available and able to perform snow and ice removal during inclement weather to keep our schools accessible.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
- Sanitation Excellence: Perform detailed cleaning of classrooms, lavatories, and common areas, ensuring supplies are replenished and environments are hygienic.
- Floor Care Mastery: Execute proper techniques for stripping, waxing, and buffing floors, as well as vacuuming and shampooing carpets.
- Curb Appeal & Safety: Maintain the exterior of the building, including sweeping walkways, removing debris, cutting grass, and ensuring entrances are clear of snow and ice.
- Facility Stewardship: Conduct daily tours to check for vandalism or safety hazards; report building needs and potential fire dangers immediately.
- Operational Support: Monitor heating and cooling systems to detect faulty operations and assist with minor equipment repairs and inventory management.
- Collaborative Service: Move furniture and equipment as needed for school events and daily cafeteria transitions.
