Location: Duchesne (1), Commons Lane (2), Parker Road (1) Primary School, (1) Bermuda

Year: 2026-2027 School Year

The Opportunity: Building the Foundation of Belonging

In our Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classrooms, we believe that every child’s potential is limitless. We are looking for a passionate, certified Special Education Teacher who specializes in the "magic" of early childhood. You are the specialist who sees the brilliance in every scholar, regardless of their developmental path, and creates a classroom where "access" is the standard and "growth" is the celebration.

As part of the Ferguson-Florissant "New Chapter," you will lead a multidisciplinary team to ensure our youngest learners with diverse needs are prepared for a lifetime of success. If you are a champion for equity and a master of play-based intervention, your next chapter starts here.

Role Summary

As an ECSE Pre-K Teacher, you will lead a specialized classroom environment for children ages 3–5 with identified disabilities. You will design and implement highly individualized, play-based instruction that aligns with both Missouri Early Learning Standards and specific IEP goals. Working at the heart of a collaborative team—including therapists, paraprofessionals, and families—you will foster a nurturing community where social-emotional wellbeing and academic readiness go hand-in-hand.

Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)

  • Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Special Education (B-3).

  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, required; Master’s degree, preferred.

  • Master of Differentiation: You know how to take a single lesson and make it accessible for a student using a communication device, a student with sensory sensitivities, and a student working on fine motor goals.

  • Equity Champion: You are a fierce advocate for inclusive practices, ensuring your scholars are seen as vital members of the wider school community.

  • Relationship Builder: You understand that for many families, you are their first guide into the world of Special Education, and you lead that journey with empathy and clarity.

Your Impact (Key Duties)

  • Lead the IEP Journey: Draft, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that are data-driven, compliant, and deeply personal to each child.

  • Inspire Through Play: Facilitate a "hands-on" learning environment where therapy goals (Speech, OT, PT) are seamlessly woven into daily centers and play.

  • Coordinate the Team: Lead your classroom paraprofessionals and partner with related service providers to ensure a consistent, "Whole Child" approach.

  • Empower Families: Provide regular, meaningful communication to parents, helping them celebrate milestones and navigate the transition to Kindergarten.

  • Cultivate Regulation: Use trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming strategies to help students learn to navigate their emotions and their environment safely.

Your Leadership Partners

  • Primary Support: Director of Early Childhood

The Logistics of Your Success

  • Classification: Exempt, Certified Staff

  • Work Year: 10-Month Academic Calendar (187 Days)

  • Salary: Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule, determined by experience and education.

  • Benefits: Full-time Eligibility (Medical, Dental, Vision, and PSRS/PEERS Retirement).

The FFSD Advantage: Total Rewards & Support

We don't just hire teachers; we invest in inclusion leaders.

  • Collaborative Ecosystem: You aren't on an island; you are surrounded by a team of SLPs, OTs, and PTs dedicated to your students’ success.

  • Mentorship that Matters: New ECSE teachers are paired with veteran mentors who understand the unique compliance and pedagogical needs of early childhood special education.

  • Professional Growth: Access to district-provided training in Conscious Discipline, specialized curricula, and the latest research in neurodiversity.

  • Health & Heart: 100% district-paid medical, dental, and vision plans, plus access to the Ferg-Flor Care district health clinic.
