Custodian / Delivery Driver

The Fergus Falls Public School District is seeking to dedicated and reliable custodian to fill a delivery driver vacancy based out of our Kennedy Secondary School. This full time, year-round position works day shift under our custodian contract and works closely with food service. The position generally works 5:30 am - 2 pm during the school year and 6 am - 2:30 pm during the summer months (subject to change).

This position has a benefit package that includes health insurance, life insurance; 403b contribution; long-term disability insurance; retirement benefits through the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA); and sick/personal/vacation leave. The 2025-26 wage range (new contract pending) is from $20.89 - $21.57/hour based on experience .

JOB SUMMARY: Operating with a high degree of independence, the custodian / delivery driver manages vital daily logistics by transporting food, supplies, and interoffice mail, while autonomously handling specialized facility tasks. During the school year, this role coordinates time-sensitive deliveries, receives inventory, and assists with minor kitchen maintenance. In the summer months, the position transitions to essential custodial duties, working independently to execute deep-cleaning and facility preparation for the upcoming academic year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent human relations skills including communicating with the staff and public
• Incumbent must be able to lift 80 pounds.
• Technical skills: utilization of power equipment such as fork lift, tractors, snow throwers, mowers, and power tools
• Valid drivers license
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The tasks listed below are not intended to limit other tasks that might reasonably be assigned as necessary.

• Deliver and transport all food as required. Assist with unloading, receiving, and proper storage of food service freight.
• Pick up and/or deliver supplies or freight for the district.
• Transport financial deposits to the bank.
• Transport mail to post office.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on the delivery truck as well as keeping the vehicle clean and organized.
• Maintain carts and rolling racks including cleaning and lubrication.
• Assist with custodial and cleaning duties as assigned including but not limited to cardboard removal, floor drains, and pest prevention and removal.
• Assist with special projects for food service, custodial, and other departments as assigned.
• Participate in in-service training programs and keep up-to-date with the "Employee Right to Know" program.
