Brief Description:
FEMA Corporation is looking for a Full-Time Shipping and Receiving Clerk. Individuals will be required to work with minimal supervision while maintaining good time management skills and initiative. This role requires flexibility to take on special assignments and projects at the discretion of the Logistics Supervisor or Team Captain, contributing to continuous improvement and operational efficiency across the department.
Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm with overtime as needed, and sometimes without prior notice, to ensure customer needs are supported and met. This position reports to the Logistics Supervisor.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare, package, document outgoing shipments according to the process
- Receive, inspect, inventory, document, pull samples, and store receipts
- Execute international shipments
- Document any damage identified at receipt on the Bill of Lading (BOL)
- Identify and execute continuous improvements and assist in implementation
- Train others in the above disciplines
- Working knowledge of containment and DMDR system
- Communicate with Production Control and other departments to ensure smooth, on-time shipments
Job Requirements:
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Pass testing and have the ability to operate forklifts
- Identify failure modes and implement safeguards (in processes that may prevent delays or customer issues and throughout warehouse)
- Understanding of the transportation industry (shipping, carriers, freight movement, regulations and logistic workflows) and both domestic and international shipping processes
- Understanding of warehousing practices (FIFO, discrete locations, material accuracy, etc.)
- Must be organized, self-motivated, quality-minded, work well in a team environment, and have a strong ability to communicate effectively through proper channels
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
- Working computer knowledge or willing to learn (Excel, Word, Outlook, FEMAnet, Flowchart Software, Syteline, iCARaS, 3PL sites, etc.)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accurate record keeping
- Desire to exceed both internal and external customer expectations
The ideal candidate will take pride in identifying paperwork discrepancies, labeling issues, and any damage to incoming or outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and quality throughout the logistics process.
