About the Role
The Designer I supports Felling’s engineering team by creating accurate, efficient mechanical designs that meet customer and production requirements on time and within budget. You’ll develop models, weldments, assemblies, and part drawings using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and create Bills of Material (BOMs) within our ERP system. Your work directly supports production and contributes to Felling’s continued innovation and product quality. This is a full-time, on-site position in Sauk Centre, MN.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and refine mechanical designs based on specifications and application needs
- Create precise 2D and 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings
- Support weldment, assembly, and part design used across product lines
- Build and maintain BOMs within ERP software
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and cross-functional teams to solve design challenges
- Contribute to design accuracy, manufacturability, and quality
What You Bring
- Proficiency in Design Engineering principles from concept through refinement
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, material properties, and structural mechanics
- Stay up to date on SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD best practices for modeling and drawing
- Experience using CAD software for 2D/3D modeling
- Familiarity with electrical systems in trailers/equipment is a plus
- Experience in product or equipment design (manufacturing or transportation industry experience is a bonus)
- Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and a teamwork mindset
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred - similar experience considered)
