Position Summary
The Healthcare Referral Development Specialist is responsible for developing, strengthening, and expanding referral relationships that increase new-patient volume, provider utilization, and access to FBH services. This individual serves as the face in the community between FBH and physicians, hospitals, healthcare systems, schools, employers, community agencies, and other referral partners throughout Northern Utah.
This is a field-based, results-oriented role combining healthcare relationship development, community outreach, business development, service education, and disciplined follow-up. Success will be measured through sustainable referral growth, stronger partner relationships, improved schedule utilization, and measurable contribution to organizational growth.
Primary Responsibilities
Referral Development
- Develop new referral relationships throughout Northern Utah.
- Maintain and expand relationships with current referral partners.
- Conduct regular in-person visits with medical practices, hospitals, schools, employers, therapists, and community organizations.
- Educate referral partners about FBH services, provider specialties, access pathways, and current appointment availability.
- Identify barriers to referral and coordinate solutions with FBH leadership and intake staff.
Community Outreach and Representation
- Represent FBH at healthcare, school, employer, networking, and community events.
- Coordinate presentations, office visits, professional introductions, and outreach campaigns.
- Build trusted relationships with community leaders and organizations serving children, families, adults, and employers.
- Work with leadership and intake teams to understand available provider capacity and service-line priorities.
- Direct referral-development efforts toward providers and programs with open appointment capacity.
- Identify new service opportunities, referral needs, market gaps, and potential partnerships.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- At least three years of experience in healthcare referral development, physician relations, healthcare sales, community outreach, business development, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated success building professional relationships and converting outreach into measurable results.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work independently in the community while collaborating effectively with clinical and administrative teams.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout Northern Utah.
Preferred
- Behavioral healthcare or medical-practice experience.
- Established relationships with Northern Utah healthcare or community organizations.
- Experience with physician liaison work, CRM systems, referral analytics, or healthcare marketing.
- Experience supporting a new location, service launch, or provider ramp-up.
