Controller

Position Title:  Plant Controller

Reports to:  General Manager/CFO

Location:  Duncan, SC

SUMMARY:

As a core member of the plant management team, the controller is responsible for analysis, reporting, and control of plant product costs and financial topics.  In this role, the controller serves as a consultant for the plant leadership team on business related topics, sharing financial results and managing actions for cost control.  This position also serves as a liaison to corporate accounting and executive leadership, presenting monthly/periodic cost data to US and German executive management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides cost analysis for goods and services as it relates to the production process
• Collect & analyze production data and plant KPIs
• Evaluate product costs; identify solutions for costing issues
• Design, create, and implement best practices and process improvements
• Develop and implement annual departmental budgets and business plan for plant
• Monitor and control departmental budgets
• Develop periodic annual forecasts
• Manage fixed asset planning & control for plant
• Partner with Logistics Manager on inventory discrepancies and problem resolution
• Coordinate annual physical inventory and cycle counts
• Serve as local expert for plant production system
• Manage month-end closing for plant
• Prepare relevant journal entries for month-end/year-end closing and coordinate with corporate accounting team
• Knowledge in SAP Conduct audits and assessments to identify potential areas of risk and develop mitigation strategies.  Understand and maintain audit compliance as it relates to the Plant Controller function.  This would include: IATF, ISO, and TISAX.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines established by the company. Ensures safe practices and a safety-first mindset among coworkers.
• Additional duties as needed and assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Must have working knowledge of accounting/financial principles. Must possess well developed leadership skills.

Minimum Requirement:

• Manufacturing accounting experience
• BS Accounting/Business or MBA with accounting concentration
• Strong manufacturing systems experience
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
• SAP experience desired
• German language helpful

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets basic instructions and required documents.  Has the ability to respond and communicate complicated instruction and basic directions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic mathematics.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Normal amount of sitting and standing, above average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer. 

• Works with all levels of employees as well as executive management.
• Also works with Fehrer Germany Accounting and Finance teams.
• Works with outside financial auditors.
