This position is within the FAA, Aviation Safety (AVS), Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM), Aerospace Medical Certification Division (AMCD) (AAM-300), Medical Systems Branch (AAM-330). The position works in support of the Aerospace Medical Certification Program providing data management, systems management, and systems administration.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position at the FV-H (FG/GS 10-12) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G (FG/GS 5-9) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized Experience includes: Experience as a business systems administrator, lead or alternate; communicating and assisting network users with technical issues and troubleshooting any network and/or program issues; analyzing, identifying, fixing, and recording network and server problems; keeping a record of troubleshooting procedures and final resolution.

Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

Responsibilities:
Performs a mixture of routine, multiple and varying assignments under limited direction of the Manager, Aerospace Medical Certification Division (AMCD). Is an individual contributor and team member of the AMCD within the Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI).
Applies experience and detailed technical knowledge of information systems to identify and analyze issues and recommend solutions to AAM management, FAA AIT team, and software developers. Recommends updates to systems to improve the user experience and the product functionality to AMCD, other Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) employees, and external stakeholders. Provides information necessary to refine requirements to ensure the product meets the business requirement. Applies knowledge of software application and business process to test system enhancements and bug fixes prior to release. Serves as a point of contact for system questions/issues for AAM and provides functional guidance to AAM¿s Regional Medical Divisions, CAMI¿s other divisions, FAA IT software (AIT) team, and the AMCS Support Unit.
Applies experience and subject matter expert technical knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods as well as an understanding of new technologies and methodologies to perform critical tasks involving data/system management, to include planning, developing, implementing, and administering the Document Imaging and Workflow System, providing data analysis, data retrieval, and coordinating data sharing. In addition to specialized systems support and database management, develops new concepts, systems, or innovative approaches in support of the FAA's Airman Medical Certification program.
Provide briefings and/or reports to senior management concerning program/project requirements and status. Represents AAM-330 as a subject matter expert in cross-organizational IT business initiatives that interface with AAM business processes. Confers daily with AAM managers and senior-level executives to provide recommendations and guidance on interpreting AVS performance metrics, certification procedures, manpower application and new information technologies. As the IT Analyst of the Document Imaging and Workflow System (DIWS), ensures the system operates at full capability to ensure timely and appropriate risk-based medical certification at AMCD and throughout the FAA medical enterprise.
Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allow some discretion to select the most appropriate approach or to recommend new approaches. Assignments often require a review of policies and precedents, under the limited guidance of the AMCD Division Manager. Refers difficult problems and work issues to a manager or other experienced technical specialist when guidelines are not available. Provides recommendations to improve work processes.
Performs other duties as assigned in support of AAM-300 and AAM organizational mission as required.
Work is reviewed periodically during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness and technical compliance with the requirements of the project or other work activity. The work activities of this position support the activities of the organizational unit and may affect project/program objectives for the major subdivision and the LOB/SO.
