FDRsafety is seeking a highly motivated Safety Specialist for a full-time, permanent opportunity with a leading industrial client in the Ocala, FL area. The Safety Specialist will play a key role in driving a strong culture of safety by managing and improving programs across multiple plant locations. This is a boots-on-the-ground, field-based role responsible for developing and implementing safety policies, training personnel, ensuring compliance, and leading incident investigations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and enforce company-wide safety policies, training, and procedures in a multi-location industrial environment.
- Perform regular site audits, hazard assessments, and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety protocols.
- Investigate accidents and near-misses, document findings, and drive corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver monthly safety training sessions and toolbox talks.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, records, and regulatory reports.
- Perform air and noise sampling, as needed, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Approve and evaluate PPE and safety equipment.
- Serve as the first point of contact for OSHA or other safety regulators.
- Collaborate with operations leaders to promote safe work practices and procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of safety programs and support field personnel on safety-related matters.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2 years of professional safety experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, environmental, and state/local safety regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of an organization.
- Ability to manage tasks independently and prioritize workload in a multi-site environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASP or CSP certification (or working toward certification).
- Experience conducting safety training across multiple topics (e.g., fall protection, confined space, silica).
- Familiarity with air/noise sampling procedures and safety auditing.
- Ability to work in both office and field environments.
- Prior experience working in metals or industrial operations is a plus.
