Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks for a variety of clients, including data entry, bank reconciliations, and financial record maintenance. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, and accuracy. You will play a key role in ensuring our clients' financial records are accurate, current, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and categorize daily financial transactions (expenses, income, assets, liabilities) accurately.
- Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Process payroll entries and maintain payroll records (in coordination with payroll providers, if applicable).
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare personal property tax returns, helping keep client fixed assets lists up-to-date.
- Prepare basic financial reports, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets.
- Maintain digital and physical financial records in an organized manner.
- Communicate with clients to request missing documentation or clarify transaction details.
- Ensure bookkeeping practices are in compliance with firm standards and accounting principles.
- Support staff & senior accountants and CPAs with additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
- 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online/Desktop, Xero, Wave).
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in a public accounting or client-service environment is a plus.
