Ascension St. John Sportsplex, the FC Tulsa Training Facility, is Tulsa’s premier multi-sport and entertainment complex. The Sportsplex hosts a diverse range of athletic tournaments, local leagues, youth programs, and community events throughout the year.
This internship provides hands-on exposure to sports facility operations and event coordination while working alongside experienced professionals in a fast-paced, community-focused environment. Interns will gain practical experience in planning, execution, and evaluation of live sporting and special events.
Internship Summary

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating day-to-day operations of scheduled sports events, tournaments, and special activities.
- Support communication between internal staff, event organizers, league operators, and community partners.
- Help with event setup and breakdown, ensuring facilities meet presentation and safety standards.
- Shadow and assist the Operations Manager with staff scheduling, facility usage, and event calendars.
- Support basic marketing efforts such as social media posts, event listings, and promotional materials.
- Learn and help enforce facility policies, safety standards, and event protocols.
- Assist in collecting post-event feedback and documenting areas for improvement.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service to athletes, coaches, spectators, and clients.
- Observe and assist with administrative tasks such as reporting, invoicing support, and event documentation.
- Practical experience in sports and event coordination
- Exposure to facility operations, scheduling, and logistics
- Development of professional communication and leadership skills
- Understanding of event marketing, customer service, and evaluation
- Current student or recent graduate in Sports Management, Event Management, Recreation, Business, or related field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with supervision.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
- Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs and assist with physical event setup tasks.
- Familiarity with scheduling or facility management software is a plus, but not required.
