What You’ll Do: In this Legal Specialist position, you will work under the supervision of the Legal Office Manager and assigned Attorneys to support our legal team in a variety of legal matters. In this position your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Assist in drafting and preparing transactional legal documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and probate filings and estate and trust administration
- Support real estate transactions by preparing documents including deeds and affidavits, researching real estate ownership, and coordinating with parties
- Prepare and file documents for the formation, dissolution, and maintenance of business entities (LLCs, corporations, partnerships)
- Support with workers’ compensation files by requesting medical records and preparing medical summaries
- Work with electronic court filing systems in Iowa district court and Iowa appellate courts
- General litigation support including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and assisting with trial preparation
- Manage legal calendars and case timelines, including scheduling a variety of matters and monitoring deadlines for litigation cases
- Flexibility is key as you will have other duties as assigned.
What It Takes to Join Our Team:
- Paralegal certificate/degree is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet multiple target dates/time deadlines
- Advanced computer skills utilizing Adobe Pro, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Exceptional problem solving/analytical skills
- Excellent customer service skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must maintain and safeguard very confidential information
- Ability to work from our office in West Des Moines, Iowa
