The General Manager provides strategic, operational, and administrative leadership for four core programs: the Food Bank, the Backpack Program for children, Shop-Thru, and the Culinary Arts Workforce Development Program. This role ensures that all programs operate efficiently, meet community needs, comply with regulatory standards, and advance the organization’s mission to reduce food insecurity and create pathways to economic opportunity.
The General Manager oversees staff, volunteers, partnerships, budgets, and program outcomes while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Program Leadership & Operations
- Oversee daily operations of the Food Bank and the Shop-thru, ensuring efficient food sourcing, inventory management, distribution, and client services.
- Oversee the Operations of the Backpack Program, including expansion, procurement, packing, logistics, and coordination with schools and community partners.
- Oversee and Lead the Culinary Arts Workforce Program, ensuring high-quality training, curriculum alignment, student support, and job placement outcomes.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and operational standards across all programs.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, nonprofit guidelines, grant requirements, and reporting standards.
Staff & Volunteer Management
- Supervise program managers, instructors, coordinators, and support staff.
- Recruit, train, and retain volunteers to support food distribution and program activities.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a positive, mission-driven work environment.
Partnerships & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, employers, food suppliers, donors, and community organizations.
- Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and collaborative initiatives.
- Work with local employers to support job placement and internship opportunities for culinary program participants.
- Coordination and marketing of available space at the Redstone Center.
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
- Track and report program metrics, outcomes, and impact to leadership, funders, and stakeholders.
- Support grant writing, reporting, and compliance in collaboration with the development team.
- Identify opportunities for program growth, innovation, and sustainability.
Strategic Planning & Impact
- Contribute to organizational strategic planning and long-term vision.
- Analyze program data to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and community impact.
- Lead initiatives that enhance food security, expand workforce opportunities, and strengthen youth support services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, social services, culinary arts, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of leadership experience in nonprofit, food service, education, or community-based programs.
- Knowledge of food distribution systems, food safety standards, and workforce development best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing budgets, grants, and program evaluation.
- Ability to build partnerships and work effectively with multiple populations.
- Commitment to the mission of reducing food insecurity and empowering individuals through education and opportunity.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle .
