The Warehouse Associate/Delivery Driver assists in day-to-day operations of the Food Bank warehouse. Under the direction of the Food Bank Project Manager, this position is responsible for picking, packing, distributing and delivering food for pantry deliveries and agency distribution. This role also plays a key role in packing emergency boxes and maintaining warehouse inventory.
Warehouse Associate:
- Receives and stores warehouse inventory including food donations
- Weighs, sorts, and packages grocery products as needed
- Picks and packs emergency and senior food boxes for delivery to food pantries and FCCAA facilities
- Assists with the distribution, receiving, and storage of food and other products
- Assists in maintaining Shop-Thru inventory by stocking shelves and freezers within the Shop-thru
- Assists with inventory control for warehouse items by ensuring accurate usage of the product scanner and movement of items throughout the warehouse
- Keeps warehouse products organized by using a FIFO (first in first out) system for all inventory items
- Assists in maintaining freezers and coolers by organizing inventory and ensuring required temperatures are maintained
- Operates warehouse equipment including forklift, electric pallet jack, and manual jack to move pallets of inventory within the warehouse
- Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the warehouse and ensuring there are no pests within the facility
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Delivery Driving
- Drives trucks and vans on assigned routes to delivery food to pantries and distribution centers
- Ensures preventative maintenance is conducted on vehicles, forklift, and other mechanized warehouse equipment
- Conducts daily pre-trip inspections of vehicles
- Loads and unloads food deliveries and verifies the receipt of product by pantries and individuals by completing the bill of lading
- Completes vehicle logs and reports issues and maintenance requirements to the Food Bank Project Manager
- Sweeps and cleans assigned vehicles daily
- Performs other related duties as assigned8
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience driving commercial vehicles for product delivery
- Forklift experience preferred
- Basic understanding of commercial vehicle inspection and maintenance is preferred
- Ability to pass a DOT physical (must meet the standard in 49CFR 391.41)
- Demonstrated ability to maneuver a delivery vehicle in a variety of locations to facilitate food delivery and distribution
Additional Requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record (no violations)
Ability to successfully pass Federal and State criminal background check and State of Pennsylvania Child Abuse background check
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a Food Bank warehouse hot and cold temperature exposure (warehouse, coolers, freezers, etc.). Warehouse is noisy due to the use of industry exhaust systems and fans. Deliveries occur in a variety of weather conditions including rain, snow, sleet, and extreme heat. Ability to sit and drive for the duration of delivery route is required (typically 3-5 hours). Ability to stand for a long period of time to pick and pack inventory. Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds to facilitate the movement of food boxes, produce, commercial sized bags of produce, and donated products. Frequent bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of weights up to 40 pounds is required to load and deliver food. Must be able to climb stairs in the warehouse, walk on uneven pavement (gravel/dirt) across yards and roadways to facilitate deliveries. Ability to communicate verbally and hear and understand delivery instructions from Project Managers and Pantry Clients.
