What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Senior position at Faycroft Search?
You're an experienced Senior Associate who feels like you're being held back from taking full ownership of client work. It feels like you're having to fight for better work or more interesting projects between everyone else at your level.
Or maybe you've been at your firm for a couple of years and can't really see where that next step is coming from. The manager gap that doesn't exist unless someone leaves, or the manager track promise that keeps being pushed back.
This firm is different. They've got two partners retiring and the current managers are stepping up which means there's a real manager track opening up - it's there for you when you're ready.
They're a well-established CPA firm in North San Diego County that's been building long-term client relationships for years. They're independent, intend to stay that way, and are hiring a senior to grow with them through that transition.
The work is genuinely complex
1031 exchanges, multi-tiered partnerships, multi-property real estate structures alongside the full 1040/1065/1120-S mix. You'll own files start to finish - workpapers through to partner submission. There's tax planning to get involved in too, and lots of complex work going on right now that they're ready to pass to the Senior that comes in next.
The culture
It's a super close-knit firm where everyone knows each other, works across the whole team, and most of them have been there a while - retention here is genuinely strong because people are given reasons to stay.
What they're looking for
- 4 years in public accounting, broad entity experience, and solid California tax knowledge - FTB, PTE elections, CA apportionment.
- Someone who can handle complex prep without too much oversight and is looking for a long-term home.
- CPA licensed or actively pursuing. Lacerte experience a plus.
They don't need a specialist. They need someone who's got solid, broad experience and wants somewhere they can take ownership and progress to manager and beyond.
Comp range is $110,000-$130,000 benefits
It's a flexible hybrid role too, so you can either spend every day in the office or just a couple of days a week and the rest from home.
