Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Referral Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will coordinate outgoing patient referrals, verify insurance coverage, and manage medical records to ensure seamless communication between providers and patients. You will also handle phone triage calls 5 days a week. Your expertise will help streamline our referral processes and uphold the highest standards of clinical confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate patient referrals by coordinating with healthcare providers and insurance companies
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and managed care policies for patients
- Ensure accurate documentation of medical records, including EMR/EHR management and medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10)
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies during all record handling
- Assist with insurance verification processes to confirm coverage for procedures and services
- Support office staff by managing medical terminology, medical records, and insurance documentation efficiently
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure timely processing of referrals and related documentation
- Take and respond to phone triage calls 5 days a week
- Communicating with healthcare providers on how to respond to phone triage calls
- Sending in patient medication refills
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a medical office setting is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care, and insurance verification procedures
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems and medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10)
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and insurance information
- Proficiency in medical terminology and health insurance knowledge is essential
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism

Monday-Friday: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
