Sr. Project Engineer

The Position
We are looking for a
Sr. Project Engineer
to add to our roster and play a pivotal role on the Technology team. Reporting to the VP of Strategic Initiatives and Business Applications, this position will lead companywide Engineering projects, utilizing best-in-class project management methodologies to support end-to-end management from initiating, planning, and executing to reporting on initiatives supported by the Project Management Office (PMO). Additionally, this role will develop and maintain project and process rigor to support complex and transformative projects that are directly tied to the organization's strategic goals. Building strong relationships with subject matter experts across the organization to ensure all projects are delivered on time and exceed the expectations of stakeholders and partners is vital to success.

This is a hybrid role located in Southport, CT.
The Game Plan
(What you will do)

• Effectively manage initiatives assigned by the PMO, which are aligned to the organization's strategic goals.
• Work closely with cross functional departments to understand project requirements, align strategy, and formalize a project delivery schedule.
• Coordinate and implement strategic technology and operations initiatives associated with both linear broadcast and digital platforms to align with company goals and projects.
• Research and explore emerging technologies, including generative AI, to automate content generation and maximize revenue opportunities.
• Strategically lead initiatives to integrate innovative solutions into existing workflows, ensuring FanDuel Sports Network remains at the forefront of media technology.
• Execute project management resources effectively, ensuring the right tools and techniques are applied to each project.
• Manage the end-to-end project lifecycle, across assigned projects, from initiation to close, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet business expectations.
• Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and budget.
• Provide guidance and understanding of business process redesign to drive change to improve business outcomes.
• Enhance the existing project management processes, tools, techniques, and templates to advance the PMO.
• Report out using metrics, dashboards, and other tools to demonstrate the status of managed projects.
• Foster a trusting relationship with teammates and all third-party vendors.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.

The Stats
(What to bring)

• 8 years of relevant professional work experience in broadcasting and/or production distribution. Experience should include technical operations, broadcast engineering, networking, infrastructure, and streaming delivery.
• 5 years of experience in program management, technical leadership, and delivery of technical solutions.
• History of successfully delivering large-scale and complex technical and functional projects.
• In-depth understanding of a broadcast distribution including news/sports production, live event production, studio operations, file-based content creation and editing/transport/transmission.
• Experience evaluating, selecting, installing, servicing, and maintaining broadcasting industry equipment and information technology systems.
• Budgeting for departments and/or projects exceeding $1mm.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices, such as PMBOK, Agile, Scrum, etc.
• Proficient in project management software and MS Office applications.
• Ability to partner, execute and lead through collaboration to solve problems and generate results.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Highly resourceful and self-driven.
• Effective communication skills throughout all levels of the organization.

Desired Skills

• Broad technical skills and understanding of broadcast production and distribution architecture.
• Strong understanding of media lifecycle management, metadata standards, and video ingest/playout workflows.
• Ability to evaluate and streamline redundant tools and workflows.
• Experience with vendor management and implementations.
• Experience with process management and process improvement techniques.
• Change management skills (the people side of change).
