What are the responsibilities and job description for the Float Licensed Vocation Nurse NIGHTS position at FAMILY HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT COMPANY?
Summary: The Licensed Vocational Nurse will work directly under the supervision of the RN and assist in collecting vital information from patients, gathering information about health complaints, changing wound dressings, removing stitches, explaining prescriptions and assisting patients with tasks such as getting dressed and walking or using a walking aid. This is a NIGHT FLOAT position that will require working between our North Austin facilities.
Essential Functions:
A: Job Specific

Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures.

Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/NP/PA and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.

Provides supportive care to the patients under the direction of the registered nurse in charge and/or physician.

Performs patient skill sets such as taking height and weight measurements, vital signs, IV initiations, blood draws, and documenting as needed to assist the nurse and physician with patient care once they have completed a competency checklist.

Transcribes the triage documentation completed by the Registered Nurse into the medical record.

Performs Electrocardiograms as ordered and reports finding immediately to Attending Physician.

Applies proper techniques and practices while performing diagnostic testing using lab procedures.

Reports lab results immediately to Registered Nurse and/or Attending Physician.

Assists Registered Nurse and Attending Physician with assessments, examinations, and treatment for patients with predictable health care needs.

Delivers and appropriately documents the administration of by mouth medications. Monitor, document, and report responses to medications, treatments, and procedures and communicate the same to the nurse and/or physician clearly and accurately.

Performs other duties such as crutch walking, dressing changes and splint application.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Licensed Vocational Nurse
Licenses/Certification: BLS/CPR certification
Experience: 2- year experience in an acute patient care setting
