School Safety Monitor - School Central Command Office

37.5 hours a week (10 months)
2025-2026 School Year
JOB GOAL: To monitor the districtwide camera feeds and assess individual school security concerns during the day, as directed by administration and the School Safety & Security Coordinator. Assist in the implementation of cloud based camera software, so as to conform to health, safety and security guidelines, and ensure student safety and well-being while in school buildings or on grounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must be 21 years of age or older with earned high school diploma or GED. Associates or some college preferred.
- Prior experience of large campus based camera monitoring systems preferred.
- Safety Care, CPR, and first aid training preferred and/or willing to be trained and maintain certification.
- Ability to take direction from and work under the supervision of one or more faculty members, provide feedback and execute plans accordingly.
- Must demonstrate command of the English language and written communication skills.
- Displays strong, positive communication and interaction skills both oral and written when dealing with the public, students and staff.
- Ability to foster and maintain a positive school climate.
- Communicates effectively with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to communicate with young people, including the ability to be able to set limits without being antagonistic or abrasive.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in creating an environment that supports the safety & security measures put in place.
- Help assist in the establishment of a cloud based districtwide camera monitoring software.
- Help establish critical camera placement, resolution and boundaries for most effective school camera coverage.
- Monitor districtwide camera feeds in the school central command room.
- Alert school based staff and/or police to any security concerns when needed.
- Professional operation of communication devices including two-way radio with other school resource officers and administrators.
- File security reports as requested.
- Exercises considerable discretion in the protection and release of confidential information and in the interpretation and administration of policies and procedures.
- Maintain hours set by the school administration. Availability to work additional hours if needed.
- Additional responsibilities the school administration and/or School Safety Coordinator deems necessary.
