Outpatient Procedures & Wound Care Nurse
Fall River Health Services is looking for an Outpatient Procedures and Wound Care Nurse with at least 2 years wound care experience or certification. This position works closely with providers and pharmacy to coordinate and deliver outpatient infusions, wound care, and other hospital-based outpatient procedures. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, patient-focused, and able to collaborate effectively across departments to ensure quality care and efficient operations.
Schedule: 72 Hours per pay period
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule outpatient procedures in collaboration with providers and pharmacy.
- Assist providers with outpatient procedures and treatments.
- Manage scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and pre-registration requirements for outpatient appointments.
- Work closely with prior-authorization specialists to ensure appropriate insurance coverage before procedures are performed.
- Prepare patients for appointments by obtaining documentation, entering orders, and processing charges.
- Audit outpatient charges for accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate with providers regarding treatments, patient conditions, and outcomes as needed.
- Administer infusions and treatments according to established policies and procedures.
- Organize and coordinate wound care services for both inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Review potential swing bed admissions requiring wound care services.
- Track and report outpatient procedure room volume data.
- Coordinate supply ordering with purchasing as needed.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical record documentation while ensuring HIPAA compliance and patient privacy.
- Serve as the outpatient department super user for the electronic health record system.
- Assist inpatient and Emergency Department nursing staff during high-volume or emergencies.
- Participate in the development and review of department policies and procedures.
- Educate staff regarding outpatient department workflows, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as Chair of the Skin and Nutrition Committee.
- Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory policies.
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of South Dakota
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Basic Life Support Certificate-American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate-American Heart Association-within 6 months of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certificate-American Health Association- within 6 months of hire
- Trauma Nursing Core Course-Completed within 6 months of hire
- Wound Care Certification-Completed within 6 months of hire
