Compensation

$28.00–$34.00 per hour, commensurate with experience,education, and qualifications.

Additional compensation may be available for candidateswith demonstrated bilingual or multilingual proficiency in languages thatsupport the needs of our community. Qualified candidates may be eligible for abilingual pay differential based on organizational need and successful languageproficiency assessment.

As a Therapeutic Mentor, you will play an essential role inhelping youth build the practical skills, confidence, and resilience needed tosucceed in everyday life, where meaningful change and where life happens—inhomes, schools, and communities.

Position Summary

The Therapeutic Mentor (TM) provides one-to-one,strengths-based support to children and adolescents under the age of 21 withsignificant behavioral, emotional, or mental health needs. Working under theguidance of the youth's clinical treatment team, Therapeutic Mentors help youngpeople develop age-appropriate skills that improve functioning across home,school, and community settings.

This is a highly relationship-centered position focused oncoaching—not therapy. Therapeutic Mentors assist youth in developing social,communication, emotional regulation, organizational, problem-solving, andindependent living skills through structured interventions in naturalenvironments.

This position is ideal for individuals passionate aboutworking directly with children and families while making a tangible differencein their daily lives.

PrimaryResponsibilities

• Provide individualized Therapeutic Mentoring services consistent with CBHI regulations.
• Deliver skill-building interventions within the youth's home, school, community, or other natural settings.
• Teach and reinforce social skills, communication skills, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, problem-solving, decision-making, and independent living skills.
• Assist youth in increasing positive peer interactions and participation in community activities.
• Help youth generalize skills learned in therapy into everyday situations.
• Collaborate closely with outpatient therapists, In-Home Therapy (IHT) clinicians, Intensive Care Coordinators (ICC), schools, medical providers, families, and other community partners.
• Participate in treatment planning and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Maintain professional boundaries while developing supportive therapeutic relationships.
• Complete timely, accurate, and audit-ready documentation in accordance with agency policy, CBHI standards, and CBHC requirements.
• Maintain productivity expectations while providing high-quality, person-centered care.
• Utilize trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approaches in all interactions.
• Participate in supervision, staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, education, human services, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience working with children, adolescents, or families strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to establish positive, professional relationships with youth and families.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (or ability to travel throughout Nantucket as required).
• Successful completion of required background checks.

PreferredQualifications

• Experience working within CBHI, community behavioral health, schools, youth development, mentoring, or family support programs.
• Experience supporting youth with:
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • ADHD
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Trauma
  • Behavioral challenges
  • Emotional dysregulation
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care and strengths-based practice.
• Experience collaborating with schools, families, and community providers.
