Fairview Range is hiring an Admitting Clerk for our Admitting department in Hibbing, MN.

 

As an admitting clerk, your role will be pivotal in delivering outstanding patient experiences. As an integral part of the Admitting team, you will register non-scheduled patients, activate pre-registered patients, and accurately collect and record crucial information to complete the access process. Schedule: This position will work 72 to 80 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 8-hours, rotating Day/Evening/Night shifts. Weekends: Every other Weekend

Responsibilities

• Appropriately and accurately collects and enters required information for all access patients.
• Accurately collects and enters all required demographic and insurance information for all our patients.
• Verifies electronically insurance coverage for our patients and checks to be sure they are entered correctly including effective and term dates.
• Explains to our patients all necessary forms that are needed and collects signatures when needed.
• Performs the infection screening per CDC requests.
• Scans in all insurance cards and patient's license when needed. Will term out any old cards.
• Takes our patient's picture via our Haiku/Canto system for identity purposes.
• Completes the check in process for each encounter on each patient.
• Reviews and updates patient encounters in our work queue for timely billing purposes.
• Collects patient copays and enters them into HP24. Has patient sign waivers if needed. Works closely with our financial counselors and customer service.
• Prints wristbands and labels according to each department's needs. Notifies other departments via smart web of arrival.
• Understands all downtime procedures and works with the other departments to be sure all information is gathered and then entered into Epic upon recovery. Understands how to print the downtime labels and wristbands.
• Responsibilities to other departments and co-workers.
• Makes sure surgery schedule is received and lab appointments are added. Notifies surgical department of any patient cancelations.
• Complete specimen lab appointments timely and accurately.
• Functions in a supportive role with ER staff and PCS to ensure patients and families' needs are being met.
• Works closely with security in all situations including safety, direct admits, temp traks.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Must be proficient in computer use.

Preferred Qualifications

• AA or AS with medical terminology education
• Clerical experience and prior knowledge of health insurance processing.

Compensation Disclaimer

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract. If your role is eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer, is what will be honored.
