- Administer NYSESLAT
- Plan and deliver instruction for ELL students in accordance with NYS mandates and standards
- Select, utilize and adapt appropriate second language learning strategies
- Develop and implement effective student behavior management plans
- Establish and maintain a daily schedule
- Complete reports for student attendance, progress and evaluation
- Attend school related meetings relevant to ENL program and students
- Consult and co-plan with classroom teachers and school administrators regarding instruction and students' needs
- Communicate with parents/guardians
- Participate in professional development and continuing education
- Travel to various locations as assigned to provide services
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of English grammar, word usage, word denotations and connotations, spelling, writing, and mathematics.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
- Works in standard office and school building environments.
- Knowledge of NYS Learning Standards, Common Core and ESL assessments
- Experience with students with disabilities preferred.
- Current New York State Certification in ESOL required.
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Masters Degree preferred.
- Successful prior teaching experience preferred.
