Primary Purpose
This position provides comprehensive clinical support within the Adult Primary Care Clinic, ensuring high-quality patient care through direct clinical services, patient education, and coordination of care. The role also includes outreach and educational responsibilities to support departmental programs and community health initiatives.
Essential Functions
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience.
License Or Certification Required By Statue Or Regulation
A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing.
Special Requirements
G.S. 153A-94.2(b) Subject to SBI criminal history record check prior to hire.

Craven County contributes 2% of eligible employees' gross salary into the 401(k) account regardless of the employee's deferral amount. In addition, the County matches employee deferrals up to an additional 3%.
Annual Leave
Regular full-time employees earn annual leave based upon years of service. Eligible employees begin to accrue annual leave as soon as they start but must complete a six month probationary period before they are eligible to use annual leave.

Essential Functions
- Obtain patient health histories, vital signs, and routine laboratory work; make referrals to primary care providers for abnormal or questionable findings.
- Perform diagnostic and screening procedures including EKGs, vision screenings, and hearing screenings as indicated or order by the providers.
- Assist physicians or advanced practice providers during physical examinations as needed.
- Administer medications and treatments under written, verbal, and standing orders; observe patients for reactions, document vital signs, and record pertinent information in the electronic medical record.
- Communicate with patients via phone, triage calls, and address ongoing health concerns.
- Follow up on referrals, lab results, medication refill requests, prior authorizations, and patient drug assistant programs.
- Provide direct patient education regarding lab findings, disease management, and care plan compliance.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and medications, ensure all exam rooms are stocked with up-to-date materials.
- Preparing charts and requesting records for upcoming appointments.
- Collaborate with Clinic Coordinator to close care gaps for insurance incentive programs.
- Participate in programmatic audits within the department.
- Participates in orientation of students and/or new employees as necessary.
- In times of disaster, functions as a health professional in a Red Cross Shelter.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Clinic Coordinator, Nursing Supervisor, Deputy Director, or Health Director.
