What are the responsibilities and job description for the Processing Assistant III - Registration position at Fairfield County, Ohio?
Primary Purpose
This position is part of the Registration team for Craven County Health Department/Craven County Community Health Center. The primary purpose of this position is to process the patients when they check in and to answer questions, hand out information pamphlets, and to accept information forms from the patients for processing.
Essential Functions
Public Contact- The Processing Assistant III serves each person who comes into the Health Department for services or information. Public contact is an ongoing thing each and every day. This position also interacts very closely with the nursing staff in each of the clinics. Example: Notifying the triage nurse when a Patient presents themselves with communicable symptoms. Information that is given to Clients is broad based and kept general within parameters. Example: This employee cannot quote a cost for services that are applicable to the sliding pay scale but can inform the Patient that the charge is based on their income and/or the maximum amount charged. This Processing Assistant rotates with other Processing Assistants on a regular basis for the ease, comfort and efficiency of cross training. This Processing Assistant will handle walk-in patient services procedures (excludes established maternity Patients and WIC/Nutrition services). The Processing Assistant has to know the clinic/program requirements to be seen in a particular clinic, such as whether insurance is applicable or if a service is to be pre-paid, etc.
Processing Clients
Complete Encounter Form for MNT service visits only.
Forms- The Processing Assistant III should keep Encounter Forms, HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, etc. in its designated slot for the appropriate clinic.
Minimum Education And Experience
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills and abilities gained through at least one year of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
General knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices. Ability to use a variety of office equipment including basic computer and typing skills. Ability to communicate and work with people with courtesy and tact including proper telephone etiquette. Ability to record and compile information based of established guidelines. Ability to screen communications based on predetermined guidelines to independently respond or route inquiries. Ability to gather and give information and instructions regarding the work process or procedures.

G.S. 153A-94.2(b) Subject to SBI criminal history record check prior to hire.

North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System
Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the retirement system and must contribute 6% of their gross salary each pay period. Once eligibility requirements are met, employees will be able to receive monthly payments for life based on their salary, age, and years of service credit.
NC401k
Craven County contributes 2% of eligible employees' gross salary into the 401(k) account regardless of the employee's deferral amount. In addition, the County matches employee deferrals up to an additional 3%.
Annual Leave
Regular full-time employees earn annual leave based upon years of service. Eligible employees begin to accrue annual leave as soon as they start but must complete a six month probationary period before they are eligible to use annual leave.
Regular full-time employees earn 3.69 hours of sick leave per pay period. Craven County accepts eligible sick leave from the State of North Carolina, any of its political subdivisions, any local government entity or authority, or municipality in North Carolina.
Paid Holidays
County employees receive 11-14 paid holidays annually. The Board of County Commissioners may adjust the holiday schedule as deemed necessary.
Longevity
Eligible employees earn $200 in longevity after five years of service by October 31 of the qualifying year. Longevity benefits increase $25 per year up to a maximum of $1,000.
Merit Program
Craven County offers a merit program. Up to 56% of eligible employees may receive a performance-based merit increase each year.

Processing Clients
- Call patient to the window by using the number system, greet them cordially,
- Update patient's demographic information.
- Conduct interview to gather information for financial information (Medicaid, Commercial insurance and Self pay).
- Answer questions regarding clinic routine and eligibility for services.
