The Guardianship Services Supervisor provides leadership, oversight, and direction to case management staff within the Guardianship Services Board program. This role ensures the effective delivery of guardianship services through supervision, training, program development, and compliance monitoring. The Supervisor also serves as a liaison between staff, management, courts, Guardianship Services Board, and community partners while supporting continuous program improvement and high-quality client care. This role oversees referrals, assessments, care planning, and documentation to ensure compliance with regulations. Additionally, this role supports program operations through policy development, data use, and continuous improvement efforts as well as ensuring compliance with state systems, training requirements, and on-call responsibilities.
Duties
90% Provides supervision for Guardianship Services Board case managers, assigns work and monitors case progress, provides consultation, training development, and motivation of staff. Monitors the reception of referrals from court and Guardianship Services Board funding partners. Oversees the initial intake process, biopsychosocial assessments, next-of-kin search, care plan development, documentation, and applicable training programs to ensure compliance with rules & regulations and provides oversight for court communication and appearance. Manages difficult or unusual cases & acts as mediator with staff/client grievances; provides emergency coverage due to absence of regular case managers; maintains cases and completes all required activities if needed. Provides supervisory coverage and assumes temporary responsibility of other supervisors &/or administrator during periods of absence or unavailability; serves as liaison between management & staff, directs & participates in supervisory staff meetings, staff consultations, and other related management support tasks. Writes, co-writes, and recommends changes to Guardianship Services Board and agency policies and procedures; assists in the development, implementation, modification, and evaluation of existing and new agency programs and services, particularly as they relate to the Guardianship Services Board. Gathers and utilizes data and stakeholder feedback for program and process improvements. Promotes and ensures active, effective communication with all agencies and service providers that interface with Guardianship Services Board staff and clients. Represents the Guardianship Services Board and/or agency in public, private and/or community meetings and events. Attends and participates in Guardianship Services Board meetings to provide program data and updates; responds to requests for information from Guardianship Services Board members.
5% Completes all departmental and state Social Services Supervisor training requirements. Provides oversight and direction regarding the collection of information for child and/or adult referrals within the Taking Early Action Matters (TEAM) Ohio system, the State Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS), and the Ohio Database for Adult Protective Services (ODAPS). Routinely utilizes the Ohio Child Protective Services Screening Guidelines when reviewing and screening reports within TEAM Ohio and SACWIS. Completes training and certification to perform the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessment. Completes CANS assessments for children in agency custody placed in a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP), as needed.
5% Participates in Protective Services weekend and after hours on call coverage on a rotating basis and provides after-work hours consultations on open cases. Performs other duties as assigned by the agency or Guardianship Services Board.

Note: Per Section 5153.122 (B) of the Ohio Revised Code, each supervisor hired by a public children services agency shall complete at least sixty hours of in-service training during the first year of the supervisor’s continuous employment in that position. After the first year of continuous employment as a supervisor, the supervisor annually shall complete thirty hours of training in areas relevant to the supervisor’s assigned duties.

Unusual Working Conditions/Hazards
The incumbent has substantial responsibility for the physical safety of children/adults who are suspected of being either abused or neglected. These children/adults are incapable of protecting themselves from this type of treatment. Serious mistakes in terms of failing to remove children/adults from homes could conceivably cause death or permanent disability. The position possesses considerable responsibility for the psychological safety of children/adults who are suspected of being either abused or neglected. These children/adults cannot do little to prevent harm from occurring. Failure to promptly remove an endangered child/adult would potentially cause extreme psychological distress or emotional problems requiring long term treatment and/or hospitalization of a short duration. Additionally, the position involves verylimited probability of any injury. The probability of accidents or health hazard is negligible. Minor risks or discomforts exist which require normal safety precautions typical of offices (e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment). The incumbent may occasionally interact with angry or hostile clients. However, there is limited probability of any injury. The incumbent must take normal precautions to avoid trips and falls. The incumbent works in an office environment which may occasionally be dirty or dusty.
