The Camera Monitoring Analyst plays a critical role in the proactive surveillance and security assurance of client properties through real-time monitoring of CCTV systems. The ideal candidate is vigilant, detail-oriented, and skilled at identifying potential threats or suspicious activities across a range of environments including commercial buildings, retail spaces, industrial facilities, and residential complexes. This role requires high alertness, decisive communication skills, and the ability to respond quickly and effectively to incidents.
The analyst will document all observed events, escalate threats appropriately, and liaise with law enforcement or emergency services as required. This position often operates within a 24/7 security command center and may require rotational or night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Real-Time Surveillance & Monitoring
- Continuously monitor live CCTV feeds across multiple client locations to detect suspicious behavior, intrusions, or emergencies.
- Identify and assess security breaches, loitering, vandalism, theft, or other anomalies.
- Use video analytics software or AI-enhanced tools (where applicable) to support event recognition.
Incident Response & Communication
- Respond promptly to alarms or visual alerts from surveillance systems.
- Notify law enforcement, emergency services, or on-site personnel based on established protocols.
- Maintain radio, phone, or digital communication with field security teams during ongoing incidents.
Documentation & Reporting
- Create accurate, time-stamped incident reports for all notable activities.
- Maintain a daily activity log detailing all routine and non-routine observations.
- Capture and flag video footage relevant to incidents for further investigation or legal proceedings.
System Integrity & Operations
- Ensure all camera feeds are functional and report any equipment malfunctions or connectivity issues.
- Perform basic troubleshooting or alert IT/security tech staff to resolve issues.
- Participate in routine system checks and ensure compliance with operating procedures.
Analysis & Risk Assessment
- Identify emerging patterns of behavior that may indicate recurring threats or weaknesses.
- Suggest improvements to monitoring protocols or coverage based on observed trends.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with fellow analysts to ensure full coverage during handovers and shift changes.
- Provide feedback or support during security audits or incident reviews.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED (Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred in Criminal Justice, Security Studies, or related field).
- 1 years of experience in a security monitoring or control room environment.
- Proficiency with CCTV monitoring software and security incident reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused for long periods.
Preferred:
- Experience with AI-powered surveillance systems or real-time analytics dashboards.
- Familiarity with privacy laws and legal compliance related to video surveillance.
- Security Guard License or Monitoring Certification (varies by region).
Work Environment:
- Rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and monitor multiple screens simultaneously.
