Sign Production Assistant & Permit Specialist

Are you handy with vinyl and hand tools, but also organized and detailed enough to keep permitting paperwork moving smoothly? Can you switch gears between a production table and looking up local code requirements without missing a beat?

Eye 4 Group is a full-service sign and branding company serving Indiana and surrounding states, specializing in interior/exterior signage and monument signs in multi-tenant housing, corporate, and schools.

We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented team member to fill a hybrid role: primarily supporting our production floor, while also helping keep our projects running with permitting support, filing, and front-desk tasks.

This is a great fit for someone who's worked in a sign shop before, likes variety in their day, and is comfortable moving between production work and administrative tasks.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Production (primary focus)

• Apply vinyl graphics, decals, and lettering to a variety of substrates (aluminum, ACM, acrylic, PVC, corrugated plastic, and more).
• Measure, position, align, squeegee, and finish vinyl applications.
• Weed, mask, trim, and prepare cut vinyl graphics for application.
• Assist with sign assembly per job specs and production drawings.
• Inspect completed work for alignment, bubbles, wrinkles, color issues, or incorrect copy before it leaves the shop.
• Verify finished signs against job paperwork and approved proofs.
• Package and prepare signs for installation, pickup, or delivery.
• Keep the production and vinyl work areas clean, organized, and safe.

Permitting & Office Support

• Ability to learn and understand local building codes.
• Ability to read and understand site maps and project proofs.
• Prepare and submit sign permit applications and required documents to local permit offices nationwide.
• Follow up persistently with permit offices to track status and provide any additional information requested.
• Assist with gathering permitting requirements and documents from customers.
• File and organize job paperwork, production records, and permitting documents.
• Answer phones and help direct calls and customer inquiries.
• Support the team with general administrative tasks as needed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 1–2 years of sign production experience (vinyl application, large-format printing, sign assembly, or similar) required.
• Comfortable splitting time between production floor work and permitting/office tasks.
• Organized, persistent, and detail-oriented - you don't let a permit application slip through the cracks.
• Clear communicator, comfortable talking with both customers and local government offices.
• Reads and follows job specs, work orders, and written instructions accurately.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable with basic office software (Microsoft Office, etc.).
• High school diploma or equivalent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to stand and work at production tables for extended periods.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and handle large sheets of material (with assistance when needed).
• Comfortable using hand tools, squeegees, knives, and measuring equipment safely.
