JOB SUMMARY
The SQL Database Administrator (DBA) position requires managing and maintaining our organization's databases. The DBA will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of SQL Server databases. You will collaborate with our development and infrastructure teams to design and implement efficient database solutions. Technology stack is primarily SQL Server 2019, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and a 3rd party hosted MongoDB.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with developing and maintaining SQL scripts and queries to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from diverse sources into SQL Server databases.
- Maintain SQL Server database to a production standard of 99.9%.
- Administer SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for creating and managing reports.
- Support integration of SSRS reports with other applications and systems.
- Manage and maintain SQL Server databases across multiple environments (development, testing, production).
- Ensure high availability and optimal performance through proactive tuning and monitoring.
- Implement database backup and recovery strategies to meet business continuity and disaster recovery objectives.
- Monitor database system performance and implement changes to improve efficiency.
- Develop and maintain scripts for automation of routine DBA tasks.
- Support database source control and automated deployment pipeline releases; familiarity with Redgate tooling is a plus.
- Implement monitoring and alerting for proactive issue detection.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Basic Windows Server OS Experience preferred.
- Ability to support technical database and reporting infrastructure on a 24/7 basis.
- Experience working with relational databases and SSIS packages.
- Experience with Zappysys ETL process and MongoDB a plus.
- Working knowledge of Power BI, PowerShell, PostgreSQL a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft dotNet Studio a plus.
- Clear, concise oral and written communication skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
- Self‑directed and effective at working independently, even when project information is incomplete.
- Adept at multitasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
- Jira and Confluence (or equivalent software) experience.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
