We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, support, and optimize DB2 databases in a z/OS environment. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance tuning, supporting database design, and handling production incidents while working closely with application, infrastructure, and support teams.
Database Administration
Install, configure, and maintain DB2 for z/OS environments
Perform database creation, alteration, and migration activities
Manage tablespaces, indexes, buffer pools, and storage structures
Performance & Tuning
Monitor and tune DB2 performance using tools (e.g., Omegamon, Query Monitor)
Analyze SQL performance and recommend optimization strategies
Identify and resolve locking, contention, and resource issues
Backup, Recovery & High Availability
Define and maintain backup/recovery strategies
Perform database recovery, disaster recovery drills, and testing
Support data sharing environments and ensure high availability
Production Support
Provide L2/L3 support for production incidents
Troubleshoot DB2 abends, timeouts, deadlocks, and performance issues
Participate in on-call rotation and critical issue resolution
Security & Compliance
Manage DB2 security (GRANT/REVOKE, RACF integration)
Ensure compliance with audit and regulatory requirements
Change & Release Management
Support database changes across DEV, QA, and PROD environments
Review and implement DDL changes and migration scripts
Coordinate with application teams for releases and deployments
Collaboration
Work closely with application developers, system programmers, and infrastructure teams
Provide guidance on database design, indexing strategies, and SQL best practices
