The Role
We’re seeking a Sr. Service Engineer to lead the charge of providing exceptional customer support, focusing on building Exum’s fledgling Service department into an effective, efficient, and important part of the business. This includes managing on-site PM visits, installations, general liaising between our customers/technical and sales teams where needed, and helping to build upon our existing processes/documentation and streamline our workflow. You will be the second person to join the Service department and there is a direct growth path towards becoming Service Manager to support Exum’s rapid growth.
What You’ll Do
On-site technical support:
o Installations and commissioning of new instruments along with basic user training
o Diagnose issues and perform preventative maintenance, repairs, or upgrades during scheduled service visits
Customer success support:
o Collaborate with the Customer Success team to resolve issues and help customers get the answers they need
o Act as primary point of contact for service tickets or advice, and collaborate with software team, applications team, engineering team, or sales team where needed
o Identify process improvements and help convert them into actions
Documentation:
o Maintain accurate service records
o Use existing SOP’s and workflows while creating new
o Drive efficiency with templates and concise use of reports
o Add self-help articles to our customer portal knowledgebase
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field
- 4 years in technical roles related to engineering, service, and/or electronics
- Direct experience troubleshooting and repairing complex systems
- Hands-on experience in analytical instrumentation, aerospace, medical devices, or optics/lasers
- Experience with optics, lasers, ultra-high vacuum, mass spectrometry, and/or ion beam systems useful
- Familiarity with CAD systems, quality systems, UL/CE standards, and regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to manage multiple customers, solve problems, create and use documentation, and thrive in changing environments
- Ideal candidates have experience at Agilent, Ametek, Bruker, Danaher, Hitachi, Malvern Panalytical, Oxford Instruments, PerkinElmer, Rigaku, Tescan, Thermo Fisher
Location
On-site, full-time at Exum headquarters in Denver, CO with travel expectations of ~25% (~once per month or once per two months)
