Position Overview:
As the Senior Safety Specialist, you will assume a leadership role alongside the EHSS Manager in maintaining and enhancing all Safety and Health programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulatory standards. Your primary responsibility will be to serve as the senior on-site Safety liaison for the Bakery Division, overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety initiatives within the facility.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with operations management and personnel to foster a transparent and continually evolving safety culture.
· Develop and oversee Safety work processes and systems, including the formulation of policies and procedures, conducting safety meetings, managing incident reporting and investigations processes, administering safety training information every month to team, and coordinating emergency response protocols.
· Identify, report, and address safety hazards to maintain a secure work environment for team members, contractors, and visitors.
· Manage, maintain, and uphold policies, procedures, practices, and documentation to ensure compliance with OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program for the Bakery Division.
· Oversee processes such as process hazard analysis, management of change, incident investigation, safety observations, 6S walks, safety assessments, and compliance audit action item tracking.
· Support the EHSS Manager in implementing and maintaining various regulatory programs to meet requirements from federal, state, and local agencies (EPA, SQF, OSHA, NCOSHA, Cal OSHA, DHS).
· Lead safety initiatives among hourly team members to ensure active engagement in safety protocols.
· Evaluate contractors performed work to ensure adherence to company standards, policies, and procedures are being followed accordingly.
· Direct Behavior Observation initiatives for the Bakery Division.
· Adhere to the Company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Guidelines in all duties.
· Collaborate on strategies to enhance team member safety and environmental sustainability.
· Provide guidance and coaching to management regarding policy application and program implementation.
· Maintain OSHA logs and documentation, conduct incident investigations, and manage investigation logs.
· Organize and facilitate training sessions for various programs (confined space, lockout/tag out, first aid, etc.), coordinating with external vendors as needed.
· Analyze historical data and trends to prioritize Health & Safety activities.
· Conduct Safety and Environmental audits of the facility with the participation of the management team.
· Lead the Health & Safety Committee and facilitate monthly meetings with 100% engagement.
· Conduct Safety Trend Analysis and share results with management team.

Requirements:
· 3 years of experience in a Safety role within a manufacturing environment.
· Demonstrated experience in managing procedures, practices, and documentation for OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
· Proficiency in utilizing various methodologies for determining Root Cause and Corrective Actions.
· Proven track record of maintaining OSHA logs and compliance documentation.
· Experience collaborating with government agencies and external vendors on Health and Safety matters.
· Must be Bilingual (Spanish & English).
